PROGRAM: Crossing Point Arts
Voice Journey Workshop
A Zimbabwean proverb says, “If you can talk, you can sing; if you can walk, you can dance.” Whether we believe we “can’t carry a tune” or we identify as experienced singers – many of us (sometimes secretly) long to expand our vocal abilities, free ourselves from the fears surrounding creative expression, and allow our voices become the resounding instruments of our truth.
The Voice Journey workshop enables participants to experience the intrinsic power of their voices. Participants are guided through an exploration of the many voices within their voices by practicing vocal techniques from all over the world as well as contemporary sound healing practices and musical forms.
Womankind, formerly NYAWC, works with survivors of gender-based violence to rise above trauma and build a path to healing. For decades, Womankind has been serving survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence of all ages. They provide innovative healing services and award-winning assistance to women and their children. Depending on circumstance, they have access to a safe place to live, assistance with housing, employment, English language training, legal immigration assistance, financial empowerment, and so much more.
*As a program commissioned by Womankind (via Crossing Point Arts),
this series is open only to members of the Womankind community.
