PROGRAM: Crossing Point Arts
Voice Journey Workshop
A Zimbabwean proverb says, “If you can talk, you can sing; if you can walk, you can dance.” Whether we believe we “can’t carry a tune” or we identify as experienced singers – many of us (sometimes secretly) long to expand our vocal abilities, free ourselves from the fears surrounding creative expression, and allow our voices become the resounding instruments of our truth.
Voice Journey workshops enable participants to experience the intrinsic power of their voices. Participants are guided through an exploration of the capacity of the voice to de-stress, heal, and empower by practicing vocal techniques from all over the world as well as contemporary sound healing practices and musical forms.
Sanctuary for Families works to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. The Anti-Trafficking Initiative provides survivors of sex trafficking with a range of resources to escape violence and build stable lives free from exploitation. We serve survivors of all ages, and we are equipped to address the specific needs of immigrants and LGBTQ people.
*As a program commissioned via Crossing Point Arts,
this workshop is open only to members of the Sanctuary for Families community.
